Topic: Innovating SharePoint to Engage Your Employees and Improve Business Processes

Now that you’re past the initial SharePoint phobias, how do you begin to innovate your SharePoint intranet to engage and retain your employees, and create operational efficiencies? View effective practices that demonstrate how to address pain points in your organization through business process automation (BPA) using forms and workflows (out-of-the-box and third party tools).

Some examples that will be provided are:

                  • Master Locations list
                  • Position Requisition Form & Workflows
                  • Trailer Tracking System
                  • Learning Management System “Lite”
                  • Billing System (Funding Sources Billing)

Speaker: Erin Glenn

SharePoint Solutions Architect | Goodwill of Central & Coastal Virginia

Erin Glenn is a passionate SharePoint SME who focuses on business solutions in SharePoint. In the early 2000’s, she asked her software development manager how she could get into “web stuff” when she didn’t want to write code and is certainly not a graphic designer. Little did she know that SharePoint was that “web stuff” she wanted to do!

She has been working with SharePoint since 2005 (SPS 2003) which included two large Virginia law firms (Hunton & Williams and McGuireWoods), an IT consulting company, and the Virginia Housing Development Authority. Today, she is the SharePoint Solutions Architect for Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia. She has co-led the Richmond SharePoint User Group since 2009. She has been a speaker a various SharePoint Saturday events, SharePoint User Group meetings, as well as national conferences.

She is passionate about the end user, focusing on not over complicating solutions, such as providing a phased approach. She also focuses on just in time training – giving just enough information to perform the actions. She performs her own requirements gathering/business analysis sessions and builds the solutions herself with out-of-the-box tools, including browser-based, SharePoint Designer, InfoPath, SSRS, and some third-party applications (Nintex). She also creates her own user documentation and facilitates training.

Outside of SharePoint, she’s a Corvette enthusiast who enjoys boating in the summer with her parents and horseback riding in Richmond, Virginia. She also holds the MCITP: SharePoint Administrator 2010 certification.
